If a petty-bourgeois reader discovers themselves in the pages that will follow, let them not think that they are an exception and feel bitter, nor should it be considered a coincidence; it is the rule, and it will comfort them.
Unfortunately, my dear reader, this is the bitter truth, even if some do not want to admit it. Most of us petty-bourgeois start off well for the holidays and return with enthusiasm, not because we had a good time; if that were the case, we should be sad, but rather for the relief of escaping the prolonged ordeal on some seaside strip.
If some are having a good time, I do not deny them; they are enviable because they are the exception. However, I have not dealt with the exception but with the rule that governs the holidays of the average Greek.
Nevertheless, I will continue to write about the petty-bourgeois with a capital letter because they are the most important part of our society, and they deserve it. So let us see how our newly wealthy petty-bourgeois will spend their holidays.
