The choice of the Marabou café was entirely random. It must have been a place he frequented. What was too deliberate, however, was the specific spot. He always sat in the corner, near the window, looking out onto 28th October Street, and with such orientation, as if he were watching some parade.

This spot resembled a desk, and the café felt like a classroom. None of the familiar patrons would take it no matter how early they arrived, because everyone thought they would be told: "Ah! Someone else is sitting there."
