The title Lex orandi comes from the ancient Latin saying: “Lex orandi lex est credendi” (“The rule of prayer is the rule of faith”).

The content and focus of this book, as indicated by the subtitle, is “liturgical theology” and “liturgical renewal.” The fact that this axiom has been forgotten or sacrificed to liturgical and academic innovations is, for many, one of the reasons for the prolonged crisis of Western civilization and unexpectedly reveals the significance and importance of worship in history.

“Liturgical theology,” a relatively new branch of theology, is not an evolution or a newer expression of the classical “Liturgy,” but the central theoretical foundation of theology, based on which all the individual traditional branches acquire their true meaning.

Its content is not about the how of the liturgical act, but the what of the liturgical event. Thus, the point of reference and the main demand of liturgical theology is liturgical renewal, that is, the restoration of the worshiping community to its Eucharistic and ecclesiological essence.

The goal of liturgical renewal is for the common worship, primarily the Divine Eucharist, to authentically express the being of the Church. In other words, the Church is to become once again the body of Christ, the people of God, the community of the Holy Spirit.
