"Athens my itineraries" represents a personal journey into what is known as the historic center of Athens, in places where monuments from all eras of the city's history coexist, from antiquity to the present day.
The writing of these poems began in 1995 and was completed in the autumn of 2001. In the spring of 2001, the composer Christos Nikolopoulos set ten of them to music - along with six others of similar content that I had given him - forming a collection of songs bearing the same title, available on CD since December 2002.
[In the original Greek text, the poems are rhymed. The writer and the translator decided not to maintain the rhymes in French in order to better convey the meaning of the poems.]
