This little book was destined not only to become the herald of the young poet's arrival from Parral, Chile to the realm of the highest lyrical achievements (for the claw... ), and one of the timelessly most popular references in the so-called love poetry, but also to become a classic work of world literature.
Almost on par with the - we would dare say, Homeric in its specifications and devotions - that Canto General, which glorified Neruda and brought him to the dining table of Dante, Shakespeare, Goethe, Cervantes, Tolstoy, and our own Dionysios Solomos at the highest peak of the poetic Olympus.
