This volume is an elaboration of research conducted within the framework of the "Education of Muslim Children 2002-2004" Program of EPEAEK II.
The purpose of the research was the comparative evaluation of representative teaching manuals as a preparation for the production of educational material for the teaching of Greek to Muslim secondary school students.
Given that studies of comparative evaluation are rare in the literature of Greek as a foreign language, it was deemed that the reprocessing and publication of this research could be useful to all those involved in the teaching of Greek. Although the similarities between the teaching manuals are more than their differences, it is natural for each producer of educational material and each group of educators to insist on their "own" manuals, a fact that of course reduces their usefulness. The impartial educator can utilize the comparative tables contained in this volume as analytical indexes for organizing his/her lesson in a way that more effectively meets the needs of his/her students.
