In the seventy-two short poems of the Loggione (written in the mid-1980s but published thirty years later), Ghiannis Ritsos, one of the most significant Greek poets of the 20th century, sets his own stage: he constructs cities, ports, roads, and villages, enlivening them with the colors of human activities and the sounds of daily life – signs and symbols together.
