This book presents the theoretical framework of Community Work as shaped by the critical issues raised by globalization policy, with fears about the loss of locality and the challenges that our participation in a global community entails.
It is now widely accepted that the transition to the Third Millennium has caused feelings of fear, fluidity, and insecurity in today's individual: fears about what is changing and fears regarding the new things brought about at a dizzying pace by modern technology.
Within this frenzied pace of upheavals, individuals seek support. They look for stability in their cultural identity, language, religion, and community.
The main objective of this first volume is to understand the theoretical approach to community work. The second volume focuses on studying the methods and techniques used by professionals in interventions for the prevention and addressing of social issues at the community-local level, as well as a brief reference to related intervention strategies in relation to community work.
