Description

The new book by Professor of the Department of Law at the University of Thessaloniki, Mr. Kostas Chrysogonos, presents, in an advanced form, the university lectures of the author on the same-named course, as they have been shaped after fifteen years of teaching.
The content of the book covers the entire course of "organizational" constitutional law: - Concept and functions of the Constitution - Constitutional and revisionary power - Brief Greek constitutional history - Guarantees of constitutional compliance - Relationship between international and domestic law - Constitution and European integration - Fundamental constitutional principles or organizational foundations of the polity - State organs.
As the author himself notes in his preface, it is a deliberately "heterodox" work, to some extent, which challenges in many points both the correctness of certain traditional theoretical assumptions and the validity of some judicial solutions that have been given to key issues in our country's constitutional life, thus encouraging the reader to further critical reflection.
The book is fully updated — based on the 2001 constitutional revision and the relevant implementing laws issued since then — and thoroughly documented, with an impressive wealth of references to Greek and foreign (German, French, English, American) theory and case law.
