This book explains how Greece managed to become a full member of the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) starting in the early 1990s, under extremely adverse economic conditions.
However, it does not stop there. Drawing lessons from the 1990s, it sets goals for the future and suggests the means to achieve them in order to maximize the prosperity of the Greek people and to realize true convergence, that is, the convergence of Greece's average level of prosperity with the average prosperity level in the European Union.
A common theme in most chapters of the book is the simultaneous achievement of economic growth, social justice, and economic stability.
