The purpose of this book is to explore the perspective and political intervention of Konstantinos Mitsotakis in Greek-Turkish relations, with an emphasis on the period of his government from 1990 to 1993.
This policy, consistent with the pursuit of Greek-Turkish rapprochement, cannot be understood in isolation but is contextualized within the broader historical framework of Greek-Turkish relations, starting from 1995, when the Cyprus issue brought the two countries to the brink of war, and culminating in 1999, when the European Council's decision seemed to create a new framework for bilateral Greek-Turkish relations and the Cyprus issue.
