Description

7artisans 25mm f/1.8 for Sony E. The 7artisans 25mm f/1.8 lens for Sony E features a focal length of 25 mm, a maximum aperture of f/1.8, manual focus operation, manual aperture control with a clickless ring, and is compatible with Sony E cameras with APS-C sensor size.

This prime lens is suitable for portraits, reportage, and everyday shots where a natural depth of field capture is required. Its bright f/1.8 aperture is ideal for work in low-light conditions and also offers increased depth of field control to isolate the subject from the background using selective focus techniques.

Individual optical elements of the lens have multiple coatings to minimize surface reflections, flares, and ghosting for greater contrast and color accuracy under various lighting conditions.

The lens's manual focus design allows working at a minimum distance of 18 cm, and the manual aperture ring is clickless so that settings can be adjusted silently during video recording. The aperture consists of 12 circular blades and delivers a pleasing bokeh effect.

This review is about the mount: Micro Four Thirds (MFT)

It is one of those lenses that has character, it is satisfactorily sharp, it reminds me of an old lens both in colors and in its bokeh, it focuses from a very close distance. It works like an old lens since it is analog without contacts and electronics. I use it for videos and photos, with GH5, it has a distinct more natural image, and not so digital (video-like) like many modern lenses, which I personally really like. Overall, it is a lens that makes me want to play around with it, and for the money, it is incredible.

If you don't need automatic focus, etc., there is no reason to spend a fortune on a lens.
Lightweight, good construction but the shape is not very convenient for handling.
I would like the focus wheel to be less sensitive so that I can better play with the details.
However, since it doesn't need to change focus 90% of the time it's in operation, it's not particularly bothersome.
For amateur use, it is a very good choice.
