Description

The story features a maritime brochure and travels for two decades, carrying sea-loving men and sea-loving women on the great or insignificant voyages of life, from Surampagia to the cherry orchards of Andros, from the general stores and the high seas to the golden sandy beach of Neimborio and the exercises of melancholy of a group of girls, from a tomato pilaf in Buenos Aires to the faithful lard dumplings hanging from the mouth of Mouraina and the allied naval processions during the Second World War in Riva and in the white two-story houses of Salfateri with the stingy ceiling, which like a spread tulip dripped the sounds of the upper house and with them the sounds of love in the identical lower house, twenty-four slender cypress boards that destroyed lives.

This review is about book: Novel, cover: Soft

It was a very nice book, I particularly liked the maritime language it contains. Some people might be bothered by the profanity, but it didn't bother me, I have read worse. The subject it deals with is quite common, but in this case, it was nicely written. The only negative thing in my opinion that deprived the book of five stars is the fact that in the first few pages it is quite confusing, there is literally a chaos of names, places, locations, and whatever else one can imagine. The landscape clears up of course after the first few chapters and you understand perfectly what is happening, but in the beginning, you have lost the ball.
