Macbeth is a contemporary reading of Shakespeare's work through the lens of the works of Jarry and Duenier Rousseau.

Influenced by the study of the Polish Jan Kott Shakespeare Our Contemporary, Ionesco seeks to present the libido dominandi and its destructive power, prioritizing political reflection at the expense of the tragic and the moral quest that were the main themes of the English playwright's work.
