Description & Specifications

The volume contains seven texts about fairy tales. The first discusses the difficult problem of the origin of fairy tales, not only the Greek ones, and touches upon some contemporary issues (survival of old fairy tale forms, creation of new ones).

The second text specifically addresses Greek fairy tales. The third text examines the consequences of the decline of folk fairy tales as oral storytelling and their transformation into a literary genre, while the fourth serves as a sample of one of the ways in which fairy tales are now examined from a literary perspective.

This is followed by a text that explores whether and to what extent various forms of folk literature (fairy tale, tradition, song), although they originate from the same source, the people, express, as different genres, different psychological moments of their creators.

The sixth article investigates the significance and function of peculiar songs that are interspersed in (folk) fairy tales, and in the last one, the very interesting relationship of the common folk with the machine is highlighted, as represented in the fairy tale.
