Menelaos Loundemis, with his "Angry Ears of Corn," offered one of the finest anti-war novels to Greek prose.
Little Fotis Triarchis lives in the village with his mother and grandfather. His father is in prison – in the village, he is considered a thief, but Fotis cannot believe it. He experiences daily the terror sown in the countryside by the conquerors, aided by Greek collaborators.
The prevailing injustice scars him; he cannot bear it and longs to grow up so that he can also go to the mountains, alongside the partisans. Together with his friend Argyris, they weave stories, make dreams, hoping that when they grow up, they will seek justice from those who have harmed them and their land.
