If the right to vote, by placing the people in decision-making centers, abolished, as Victor Hugo said, the right to rebellion, the conduct of every election - especially when there is a large number of both voters and candidates - always requires some technical method for determining the results.

This is considered by many to be the most important factor for the functioning of the entire political system in every country, even more so than the constitutional provisions that define the form of government. In any case, the electoral system is somewhat like a chemical catalyst that transforms popular votes into elected representatives, social will into a legitimized political basis of power, and the "momentum" and appeal of parties into - usually for a four-year term - parliamentary presence and entity.

However, how many, even among those systematically engaged in politics, know the literally countless variations and differentiations of electoral systems that realize this so-called "chemical" transformation?

The aim of this book by Professor Thanasis Diamantopoulos is exactly to familiarize interested parties with the technical and political parameters of all electoral systems that are applied or have been applied in democratic, or at least attempting to apply some electoral rules, regimes around our planet.
