The second volume of the "HISTORY OF MODERN GREEK THEATER" is published in 3 parts. The second part follows the evolution of theatrical life in Greece mainly during the decade of 1910-1920.
New and unknown information is added about individuals and events that have been mentioned in previous sections of the work, and with a focus on the personality of Fotis Politis, the efforts for the establishment of the National Theater are examined.
The most notable amateur theatrical groups of the decade are presented in detail, as well as the drama schools, the performances of the two leading actresses, Marika Kotopouli and Kyveli, and other, less well-known, troupes.
The systematic monitoring of theatrical activity is complemented by details about musical theater, operetta, revue, as well as the war dramas that flourish during this period, while the impact of significant political and social events on the lives of actors, the functioning of troupes, the reactions of the audience, and the stance of the press is outlined.
