Very interesting. I believe it's one of those books that you should read relatively quickly. It's divided into 3 parts and the 3rd is by far the best in my opinion. It's not the most relaxing book, but it's worth the effort. They say it makes you look at the stars in a different way, I would agree.

  • Awesome book! The author clearly improved in his writing style compared to the first book. The story is amazing and keeps you in suspense constantly.

I couldn't wait for the 2nd season of The Three-Body Problem, so I bought the second book of the "Remembrance of Earth's Past" trilogy, "Dark Forest," by Chinese author Liu Cixin. It has more character development than the first book, imaginative future technologies, without heavy technical details, suspense, and plot twists. It is very easy to read and falls into the category of Hard Science Fiction. I will definitely get the third book, "Death's End."

I forgot to mention that the translation is very good, probably from English (I'm not sure), and there are several footnotes to help you where needed

Description & Specifications

Imagine the universe as a forest in which countless and unknown predators wander. In this forest, survival depends on concealment; any civilization that reveals its location automatically becomes prey.

In the Dark Forest, the predators are arriving. Traveling light-years, they are set to reach Earth after four centuries. However, the sophons, their extraterrestrial agents and saboteurs, are already here. Only the human mind remains untouched by their influence.

This is also the motivation for the Wallfacers Plan, a bold program that grants four individuals immense amounts of resources to prepare the planet's defense plan, keeping it secret from both Earthlings and the Trisolarans. Three of the Wallfacers are influential politicians and scientists, but the fourth is someone completely unknown.

Luo Ji, a Chinese astronomer and sociologist with no particular ambitions, is astonished by this new position. All he knows is that he is the only Wallfacer that the Trisolarans are determined to eliminate.
