Description

The history of chocolate reaches back through the centuries, to the point where we encounter the cocoa tree, from whose seeds chocolate is produced.

The cocoa tree, a tropical plant, stretches its roots thousands of years back, to the civilization of the Maya in Yucatan and the Aztecs in Mexico, and according to tradition, it has both royal and divine origins!

It is noteworthy that the botanist Linnaeus named it Theobroma, which means Food of the Gods. The Aztec emperor Montezuma prepared a drink made from roasted and ground cocoa beans, water, corn, and spices, and named it 'Chocolate', a word that has remained to this day in languages around the world!
