Stathis Pelagidis is an assistant professor of Social Studies at the University of Thessaloniki (Faculty of Education in Florina). From his long-standing engagement with History and its Teaching in primary education (Elementary - Middle School), he has reached the fundamental realization that third-grade elementary school students (8 - 9 years old) are still at the stage of visible conception and concrete thinking.
On the contrary, they operate more within the realm of the imaginary, the mythical, and, in some ways, the absurd, rather than within the conditions and processes of logic and reflection. Based on the above, we believe that the teaching of History in the Third Grade of Elementary School must be predominantly visual, emotional, and experiential. The book operates along this line.
Beyond the above, we want to believe that the pages of the new book convey our rich experience from the teachings of students from the Department of Primary Education in Florina at schools in the city and region. Therefore, with the dynamic of this experience, a new approach to the subject of History in the Third Grade of Elementary School is attempted.
