This dictionary is based on a methodical and systematic recording of the core of the modern Greek language (without dialectical variations), as used in spoken and written language today. It draws its material from various types and levels of modern Greek speech and places particular emphasis on presenting the contemporary meanings of words, as well as explaining new scientific terms and foreign words that have become prevalent in our language in recent years. It also aims to provide as detailed and well-founded answers as possible to questions of form (spelling, noun and verb declensions, etc.) that concern students, teachers, and any user of the Greek language. The primary reference is the official school grammar, which, however, is approached critically and revised in certain points based on modern data.
