The purpose of this writing is to present to the reading public the Mathematicians of Ancient Greece (both men and women), specifically those who, although they contributed to the foundation or dissemination and teaching of the most cerebral science, mathematics, remained unknown for various reasons, not only to the broader audience of scholars but also to many of the experts in the History of ancient Greek mathematics.
In a time when Hellenism is under various forms of attack, we believe that it is imperative to highlight the life and work of these great thinkers, the Mathematicians of Ancient Greece. Knowing that until today, for unknown reasons, no similar presentation has taken place, we believe that this book will fill a gap in the History of Greek mathematics.
In the second edition, 7 mathematicians were added and several corrections were made. It was deemed appropriate for the mathematicians of the 6th century AD to be transferred to our book, which is already circulating, titled: 'The Positive Scientists of the Byzantine Era'. We have an obligation to thank the mathematician, architect, and historical researcher Dimitris Tsimpourakis, as well as the philologist Ioannis M. Konstantakos for their valuable suggestions.
In the third edition, one mathematician was added and various minor corrections were made.
