Because I wanted my work - at least at this stage - to be a particularly user-friendly and accessible manual for everyone, I gave it the form of a dictionary where completely basic information is provided about a significant number of icon painters, from the time of Christian painting until 1821.
Moreover, providing more information about the icon painters would require a project of a different scale, which I hope to be able to complete someday.
As an icon painter, I consider any kind of "painter of holy images," regardless of their form. Thus, in my study, I include both painters of portable icons and mural painters, miniaturists and mosaic painters, regardless of their technique and the school to which they belong. [...]
