The autobiographical trilogy by Menelaos Loundemis "Sarcophagi" concludes with the book The Angel with the Plaster Wings. In the third part —which is perhaps the hardest of the previous two— the tortures endured by political prisoners in Makronisos as well as in Athens are presented realistically, along with the interventions of party organizations towards those who decide to follow a "different line".
The few moments of freedom that the author experiences from the moment he is transferred to a clinic —"to restore his mental tone first"— under the ever-watchful eye of the Security. "I must return to the hospital. I fear that the Security will come and not find me," says the author with sarcasm. He tries to relive a normal rhythm, yet the expected arrest puts an end to the lifestyle he had forgotten, in the places of exile and torture.
