Description

Some clothes are sewn with silk thread, others are heavy wool, and some are light like veils. However, there are also some very convenient clothes that are made to keep us warm in winter and cool in summer. Which tailor knows how to sew them, and where can we find him? Once upon a time... that is, yesterday or today or even tomorrow... Dwarfs and fairies, dragons, witches, and kings come and go between fairy tales and reality. They take a path and leave a path, reaching the corners of the world and then returning again. And in the end, they live well, and we live better! For little children with big imaginations and for new parents with lots of energy! Stories that can be read in ten minutes!

Theme: Words, Imagination, Creativity, Fairy Tale

Style: Tender, Magical, Playful

Age: 3+ years

Suitable for:

  • Parents who want to introduce children to the magical world of books.
  • Teachers looking for inspiration for creative activities and discussions in the classroom.

Why This Book Is Special:

This book is an ode to the power of language and imagination. It shows us how words can create an entire world and "clothe" us with emotions and experiences. The story is tender and original, while the illustration uniquely brings to life the magical world of the tailor.

About the Author:

Antonis Papatheodoulou was born in 1977 in Piraeus. He studied animation and works in advertising. Since 1999, he has been writing and translating stories, songs, and scripts for children, participating in activities for children's books, and meeting young readers in Greece and abroad. His books have been honored with two State Awards, awards from the Greek section of IBBY, the magazine Diavazo, the Anagnostis and Public awards, as well as the International Compostela Prize, and have been included in the White Ravens lists of the International Children's Library in Munich.

With the book you can:

  • Discuss: What are the child's favorite words? What "clothes" would they like to make with them?
  • Ask the child: If you were a word tailor, what would you sew? What color would your clothes be and from which words would they be made?
  • Play/Create/Imitate: Create a "word wardrobe" with your favorite words and draw the clothes you would make with them.
  • Read an excerpt:

"Once upon a time, in a town that was small and still resembled a village, there lived a tailor.

A tailor who was unique for two reasons.

First, because the town had no other tailor, and he alone sewed and dressed both adults and children. The display of his small shop was full: blouses, cardigans, trousers, sweaters and turtlenecks, socks and hats, capes and coats, in all designs and colors. And his shop was always full, with smiling customers who came and came again to choose, to try on, to shop."

What do Skroutz users who bought it say?

It is considered educational, moving, and full of meaning, ideal for starting important discussions with children. Many emphasize the beautiful story, the harmonious writing, and the quality of the paper, while mentioning that the book evokes nostalgic memories and highlights the value of tradition and spiritual heritage. They also mention that children love it and ask to read it again and again.

Once upon a time, in a town that was small and still looked like a village, there lived a tailor. A tailor who was unique for two reasons. First, because the town had no other tailor, and he alone sewed and dressed both adults and children. The window of his little shop was full: blouses, cardigans, trousers, sweaters and turtlenecks, socks and hats, capes and coats, in all designs and colors. And his shop was always full too, with smiling customers who came and came again to choose, to try on, to shop. But he was unique for another reason as well. Because he had no threads or yarns to sew the fabrics, nor did he have wool for his knits. Instead, he used a material he loved even more, a unique material… words. Words from fairy tales, words from poems, from songs, from old stories and dictionaries and encyclopedias.

Our favorite book! No matter how much you have read, you always come back to it to relax your mind, remember the old professions that are disappearing, the tradition, and the spiritual past that we all should remember. Nostalgic, lyrical, with harmonious writing and deep meanings for children. The craftsman and his unique creations, far from fashion, standardization, and the pursuit of the ephemeral. And then the words that are not lifeless combinations of letters, but wrap us tenderly. The craftsman of words who beautifies our lives and comforts us in difficult times. How much can you say about this book! Beauty of language and image!

The story is simple, understandable, and beautiful. The paper of the pages, although thin, did not bother us. Each page has enough text and does not have enough pictures, so the child gets bored. We tell the story at night before going to sleep. Conclusion: the story is ideal for young ages, but its presentation is for older ages (children who can read).

    • Excellent book. One of the most beautiful ones we have in our library. Instructive, touching, and profound. Useful discussions can be had and we can pass on values to our children through this beautiful story!

    • Our favorite book!
