Another wonderful collaboration between Antonis Papatheodoulou and my beloved Iris Samartzi... The result is a bright and colorful children's book with original sketches, which immediately became loved by my boys.
Apart from enjoying it every time we read it, it's a good opportunity to talk about a profession that is probably disappearing... The profession of the tailor as it used to be... But also the process of making clothes... About the different fabrics and materials we use and how much time it takes to make just one piece of clothing.

Αγόραζαν ρούχα από τις βιτρίνες των καταστημάτων και ξέχασαν τον ραφτάκο. Ήρθε όμως ένας πολύ βαρύς χειμώνας και οι άνθρωποι δεν μπορούσαν να ζεσταθούν με τίποτα. Και τότε ξαναθυμήθηκαν τον ραφτάκο...
Ακόμα μια υπέροχη συνεργασία του Αντώνη Παπαθεοδούλου και της αγαπημένης μου Ίριδας Σαμαρτζή... Το αποτέλεσμα είναι ένα φωτεινό και πολύχρωμο παιδικό βιβλίο με πρωτότυπα σκίτσα, που έγινε αμέσως αγαπητό από τα αγοράκια μου.
Εκτός του ότι απολαμβάνουμε κάθε φορά που το διαβάζουμε, είναι μια καλή αφορμή να μιλήσουμε για ένα επάγγελμα που μάλλον χάνεται... Το επάγγελμα του ράφτη όπως ήταν παλιά... Αλλά και την διαδικασία κατασκευής των ρούχων... Για τα διαφορετικά υφάσματα και υλικά που χρησιμοποιούμε και πόσο χρόνο μας παίρνει για να φτιάξουμε ένα μόνο ρούχο.
Κυρίως όμως, με τη βοήθεια αυτού του βιβλίου, συνειδητοποιήσαμε τον πλούτο των λέξεων και την μεγάλη δύναμη που έχουν στην καθημερινή ζωή μας. Μας ζεσταίνουν, μας παγώνουν, μας κάνουν να νιώθουμε αγάπη, χαρά ή μίσος και θυμό.
Παίξαμε κι ένα εύκολο και διασκεδαστικό παιχνίδι... Ψάξαμε όσες χειμωνιάτικες και καλοκαιρινές λέξεις γνωρίζουμε!
Στο τέλος του βιβλίου υπάρχουν φωτογραφίες από την θεατρική μεταφορά της ιστορίας του ραφτάκου. Επίσης, ιδέες για παιχνίδια που μπορούν να παίξουν τα παιδάκια με τις λέξεις και να γίνει ο καθένας ένας άλλος ραφτάκος ή μάλλον "γραφτάκος"! Αυτή είναι μία λέξη που πήρα από το βιβλίο και μου άρεσε πολύ...

The story is simple, understandable, and beautiful. The paper of the pages, although thin, did not bother us. Each page has enough text and does not have enough pictures, so the child gets bored. We tell the story at night before going to sleep. Conclusion: the story is ideal for young ages, but its presentation is for older ages (children who can read).

Once upon a time, in a city, there lived a tailor... He was very beloved and unique in his kind because he didn't sew with threads and fabrics, but with words from fairy tales, songs, dictionaries, and encyclopedias. For winter clothes, he cut warm words, like sun, stove, or fire. For summer clothes, he used cool words like water, dives, or shade! People gradually followed the fashion... They bought clothes from shop windows and forgot about the little tailor. But then a very harsh winter came and people couldn't get warm no matter what. And then they remembered the little tailor again...
Another wonderful collaboration between Antonis Papatheodoulou and my beloved Iris Samartzi... The result is a bright and colorful children's book with original sketches, which immediately became loved by my boys.
Apart from enjoying it every time we read it, it's a good opportunity to talk about a profession that is probably disappearing... The profession of the tailor as it used to be... But also the process of making clothes... About the different fabrics and materials we use and how much time it takes to make just one piece of clothing.
Mainly though, with the help of this book, we realized the richness of words and the great power they have in our daily lives. They warm us, they cool us, they make us feel love, joy, or hatred and anger.
We also played an easy and fun game... We searched for as many winter and summer words as we know!
At the end of the book there are photos from the theatrical adaptation of the little tailor's story. Also, ideas for games that children can play with words and everyone can become another little tailor or rather a "writer tailor"! This is a word I took from the book and I liked it a lot...
There is information about fabrics and a nice idea for a handmade paper weave!
