This book attempts a comprehensive presentation of the academic field of International Relations, which this year, in 2019, celebrates one hundred years of existence since the first university chair in international politics was established in Aberystwyth, Wales.
One of the main points that stands out in this book is its historical dimension, namely how and when various schools (theoretical examples) of International Relations emerged, the theories, concepts, and trends of international politics, a perspective that is lacking in most contemporary general works on International Relations, whether Greek or foreign.
The theories and approaches are presented in the form of dialogue, akin to a debate, to give equal weight—or rather, nearly equal weight—to the opposing views.
However, the book does not remain entirely neutral but discreetly takes a position on various significant theoretical issues, especially when they have practical implications, e.g., realism or liberalism, power politics or legitimized interstate relations, the absence of international ethics or international ethics, inherent aggression or not, balance/balancing of power or not, traditional strategy or comprehensive security, conflict resolution with "zero-sum" or "positive-sum" (two winners), universal human rights or cultural relativism, ethnogenesis or ethnic awakening, strict territorial integrity or secession under conditions, panoramic geopolitics with "enemies" and "friends" or critical geopolitics, etc.
