The book aims to bridge the gap between the instructional and the strictly academic aspects necessary for the transition of students of philology - as well as those interested in enhancing their skills towards a systematic study of modern Greek literature - from general knowledge of literature to the science of modern Greek philology.

Having a preparatory character, this book aims to:

A) familiarize the interested reader with the "language" of modern Greek philology, that is, with the specialized vocabulary, the way of using terminology, as well as the basic modifications that the evolution of the science has brought about.

B) guide the prospective researcher in conducting research, and in producing original scholarly work.

C) theoretically, and with specific examples, empower the reader of modern Greek literature so that the transition into the multi-layered, critical, and politically active field of interpretation is smooth for him.
