Description

The Map is one of humanity's inventions that could be characterized as 'magical'. It brings before us the vastness of the Earth. Something that would otherwise be impossible to see and comprehend, the immense terrestrial expanse becomes accessible, familiar, and the map serves as a tangible tool for work as well as knowledge, escape, and dreams.

It is no coincidence that the Map, beyond its practical significance and importance, has been a particular subject in Poetry and History. The Map is a 'language'. Its auditory part becomes visual, but the graphic remains. Like language, the Map has its codes, its 'writing' and 'grammar', rules and exceptions, aesthetics and style. It has its colloquial form and its formal one. Additionally, due to its nature, it has demands for penetration into our perceptual field through its 'image'.
