Twenty-four letters. Each corresponds to an illustrated phrase (saying, question, advice), and on the opposite page, a short text (story, poem, dialogue) that contains words beginning with the corresponding letter.
The small ones for the First Grade and the larger ones for the Second Grade (of the older students). No one should expect to find an underlying unity (although it is certainly not forbidden for anyone to seek it).
In several texts, answers are provided to trivial and even more trivial questions (What do the mind and water have in common? What is the role of the guardian? What did Origen discuss with Hypatia?), while elsewhere there are myths without moral, and others are simple exercises in style.
This book does not aspire to change the nature of the world, the flow of events, or the way people think. If it gives some readers a reason to smile, others to think various things, others to reminisce, and others to get annoyed, it will have achieved its goal.
