Because aesthetics is the ethics of the future, because aesthetics is not the ethics of the present, because the ethics of the Greek present is a deception, because aesthetics has no presence here in Greece, because in Greece the present is the past, because this past has no future, because the future generally is uncertain everywhere in the world except Greece where it is definite as it is deadly.
Because art is a comfort and a refuge from misery and wretchedness, because misery and wretchedness have abounded in recent years in Greece, because politics lacks aesthetics because it lacks ethics, because many artists, lacking substantial aesthetic education, attempt to engage in politics and lose the little aesthetic education they had.
Because we want to protect them from this disaster, for all these becauses and many others, engaging with art in Greece becomes an urgent problem.
