The recent completion of half a century since the fall of the Nazi regime provides an opportunity for rethinking the causes of the hatching of the snake's egg, and the recent, almost pan-European, revival of extreme nationalist, even racist, ideologies necessitates a systematic - and proactive - investigation of the political movements and formations that promote them. Without a desire for demonization but also without complacency.
Of course, the aim of this specific work is neither a comprehensive study of interwar fascism nor an ‘X-ray’ of all contemporary ultra-nationalist political movements considered ‘suspicious’ of fascist leanings. Much more limited, on the contrary, the aspirations of this study are oriented primarily towards an examination of the prototype regime of interwar fascisms, that of national socialism, and secondly, towards the analysis of the party of J.-M. Le Pen, the National Front, which many consider to be the first ‘soft’ expression of the resurgent modern fascist nationalism.
