- It cannot be sprayed onto the surface alone! Use the black matte plasti dip as a base (6 good “hands”) for the ideal result!
- When the temperature is low, there is a chance that the plasti dip® will not spray evenly because it will freeze. The best thing we can do is to place the spray can in warm water for 5-10 minutes or heat it on a radiator. This causes the mixture inside to soften, and we get the smooth finish we want.
- Before proceeding to paint a car or motorcycle with plasti dip®, it is advisable not to have applied any polish or wax beforehand, as there is a possibility that the plasti dip® may not adhere properly.
- We never paint a car or motorcycle if it has been previously painted with factory paint. At least one year should have passed to avoid problems with the clear coat.
- When creating a strip on a surface to achieve a straight line, you should remove the tape after the sixth “hand” (enough to get a good result) while the plasti dip® is still wet. This is because plasti dip® has the property to re-liquefy when it comes into contact with an already painted surface. Otherwise, if you remove the tape after it has dried, the straight line you created may be ruined.
- When spraying, always hold the spray or gun in a vertical position relative to the surface. The distance should be 10-15 cm.
- It is advisable to spray in an area without wind, as the air may carry the material away and cause the spray to dry in an unwanted area. This can result in the surface being rough instead of smooth, with the texture of sandpaper.
- Always clean the surface thoroughly before painting and ensure there is no moisture in the various crevices.
- In colder periods, each “hand” takes longer to dry.
- You can wash your car or motorcycle after about 10 days without fear, even with high pressure. In the first few weeks, you should be a bit more careful. As days pass, plasti dip® becomes very durable. We recommend applying the special Dip Protect wax approximately every month and a half.
- The ratio of thickened plasti dip® to thinner for spraying with a gun is 1:1. There is also a diluted plasti dip® spray now available, which has a much better composition, coverage, and durability, and can be sprayed directly.
- To spray plasti dip® properly, the spray gun should have a nozzle size of 1.5-2mm, the pressure should be low (1.5-2 bar), it should be able to spray in a vertical open fan, and the amount can be adjusted. The first “hand” should be gentle to create a base (about 50% coverage), and the remaining 6 “hands” should be applied thickly.

- Never wash with active foam commonly used in car washes. Use only plain soap and water.

- High Gloss Top Coat: Apply 3 good “hands” for the best result. Allow approximately 30 minutes between each “hand”. The gun should be passed quickly to prevent runs. The smoother the plasti dip® underneath, the greater the reflection of the high gloss top coat.
