Sex education is the responsibility of the home, parents, and the school, teachers, and educators. They are entrusted with the heavy task of guiding and enlightening young children and adolescents. And here the problem arises from the problem: How well can they do their job? Are they adequately prepared, are they sufficiently equipped with knowledge, and most importantly, are they themselves enlightened and cleansed?
Sex education is the child of psychoanalysis; it is an "invention" of the twentieth century. For sex education to exist, knowledge of sexuality is a prerequisite. And the knowledge of sexuality, especially that of the child, begins with Freud. Freud provided a magnificent exploration of the child's sexuality, which has since become the starting point and endpoint of any engagement with this subject.
The content of this book moves in the spirit of psychoanalytically defined sex education. Beyond studies by Freud, Reich, and Jung, it includes studies from contemporary psychoanalysts and educators, unfortunately unknown in Greece, many of whom are prominent figures in psychoanalysis, such as the psychoanalyst and educator Siegfried Bernfeld, the educator Hans Thüliger, and the psychoanalyst and educator Heinrich Meng.
