Description

“Kill all the blue jays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” This is the advice of lawyer Atticus Finch to his children as he decides to defend in court the real "mockingbird" of this wonderful story, a young black man.

Through the childhood eyes of Scout and Jem Finch, Harper Lee explores with undeniable honesty and boundless humor the absurdity of adult attitudes toward racial and social discrimination in the American South during the 1930s. The seemingly serene and peaceful Maycomb, Alabama, is actually steeped in prejudice, violence, and hypocrisy. But the numbed conscience of the town will be shaken by the courage of a man fighting for justice...

One of the most beloved novels ever written, To Kill a Mockingbird ranks among the most distinguished classic works of modern literature. It has won numerous accolades, including the Pulitzer Prize, has been translated into over forty languages, and was successfully adapted into a film. Recently, in a poll conducted by Library Journal, booksellers from all corners of the U.S. awarded it the highest honor, voting it as the best novel of the twentieth century.

    DO NOT BUY IT.
(unless you are a teenager or want something completely light with served meanings and without moral dilemmas or a trace of philosophical thought) If you take it out of its social/historical context, it has no literary value, while the reasons why the Americans promoted it so much in the '60s are troubling... To the extent that it is maintained to this day by its own myth... Don't be fooled by its profound title, even a blackbird could read it.

Overpriced in my opinion. The story starts in the middle of the book and has many unnecessary details. Despite that, it delivers a strong message to the readers.

Without exaggeration, this book is a small masterpiece and perhaps my favorite. Well-written, vivid characters, great meanings conveyed through the innocent gaze of a little girl. Atticus is the father every child would want to have! The author's alter ego, Scout, describes an idyllic childhood in the American South during the Great Depression of the 1930s.

I have read hundreds of books and this one didn't come into my hands even though I knew about it... eventually, I bought it and it is a masterpiece.
You read it very easily because the story captivates and mesmerizes you.
    I highly recommend it.
The messages it conveys about racism are constant and you easily connect with the characters

I bought it after reading very good reviews on Goodreads.com.

Very bad for nothing. Monotonous, without a particular plot, without any particular conflict, except only in the last 5 pages out of the book's 380, which even this last conflict was ultimately a joke.

Almost a waste of time. Read something else better.
