Great disappointment! I ordered it for my 1.5-year-old child. The illustrations look like they came out of a nightmare, the text on the dark background is completely unreadable, and the "story" unfortunately is not that strong.

Although the printing of the letters is not good, it is my little one's favorite and even before she could speak she would constantly bring it for us to read. Nice message, easily understood even by small children.

Yes, it does talk about love, but the vocabulary is very small and very poor in words. It was more the way we read it and the pictures that attracted my children's interest!!!

While the meaning of the book is very beautiful, I don't like the colors in the texts at all, especially on the first page where you can barely read what it says, and fairy tales are usually read in relatively dim lighting.

It mentions death at some point and I didn't feel it was addressed to my 3-year-old child! Maybe it is more suitable for older ages. Also, the illustrations are a bit scary! I don't understand the fuss that was created around this book.

Nice book but ok, I mean doesn't the publisher have graphic designers to choose a font that can be read in low light at night and isn't delicate and black on a dark background? It's a pity because it's a nice book. It looks like they were sent the book without the texts and just threw the translation in carelessly wherever and however...

We bought it after all the 'buzz' that was created around the fairy tale. I would describe it as mediocre to bad, with very few words to the point that I add my own phrases to make it a bit more interesting and to give it some flow. It's not even among my child's (3 years old) favorite fairy tales.

I really wonder about all the hype... only the pictures are nice, otherwise it's poor in words... the message doesn't come across, you have to add to the story yourself for it to make sense!

Very poor design, our eyes hurt trying to read the few lines on the pages because they don't stand out from the background. Not even the drawings catch my little one's (20 months old) attention—he doesn't even sit for 2 minutes to pay attention to it.

We love this book very much. We read it 2-3 times every day. Most of the time I get emotional. Notice that the candles go from 3 to only 1 lit at the end. The parents die and the little fox is left alone. However, they still love it even after they die. Amazing book.

Beautiful book, we bought it for a newborn. Its size is convenient for holding in one hand. Indeed, some pages are dark and reading is a bit difficult without enough light.

Wonderful book from birth almost up to older age.. Beautiful pictures, thick pages and easy-to-understand text keep the child's interest and teach them about love as well as how to soothe children's fears..

Nice book with short texts suitable from a very young age if mommy or daddy wants to spend time with their baby/child relaxing. We will start reading it now that we are 3 months old and have started reacting to conversations and smiling (nevertheless, mom has already read it since we got it?). I like that it has short texts and is relatively easy to read and keep the child's attention. The meaning of the book, of course, can be understood by a child aged 1-2 years as it is very nicely and understandably written. I like that the thickness of the cover and pages is thick so there is no risk of tearing when the child holds it in their hands, giving them the opportunity to explore it!

Nice story, but indeed the text in some parts is on a dark background and it's not easy to read at night. Also, I received a version with thin pages, and at the end, it abruptly talks about death ("and when we die and disappear.." it says). While elsewhere I've seen a different version.

I agree about the dark background, which makes reading very difficult, but the illustrations keep the child's interest and they flip through it by themselves continuously! Also, it is one of the few books that is so durable and has survived in the hands (and teeth) of our little one!

2 stars because: there is no plot, the words are few and hard to read, I need to add my own words to fill the story. A lot of fuss about this book and once again it proves the result of good marketing.

Boring book that doesn't say anything substantial. I am forced to explain things to the child. Maybe for some it helps to explain to the child that they love them, but for us it seemed somewhat off-target.

The book talks about maternal love. With short texts but with a big word in its meaning that is found in every sentence, I love you. The I love you, the hug, the acceptance, and the understanding are diffusely given in the book in a simple way so that the message can be conveyed even to the little ones.

I got it to read to my baby in utero and then when they are born! It is a very sweet book with nice pictures!

The book of our hearts. We have had it since we were babies, I have read it thousands of times to my son who is now 3 years old and I would read it to him another thousand times for sure, without getting bored for a second..

I would suggest anyone thinking of buying it to go see it up close first.
