The content of this volume is a concise history of medieval architecture. Not only that of the Byzantine and European up to the 15th century, but also that of the Islamic world and the Ottoman Empire, which maintained the medieval way of thinking and "production" of architecture until modern times.

The monuments of the Greek region are presented somewhat more extensively than others, which is natural, given that the book is primarily intended for the Greek reading audience.
