The Blood Wedding, by the great poet F. G. Lorca, is considered today one of the most important works of world theater, a tragedy that can stand proud alongside the ancient Greek plays.
Spanish scholars of the Wedding primarily focus on the borrowings from the classics of Spanish and European theater, which are almost literally transferred by Lorca as a form of reminder and gratitude.
However, the elements of ancient Greek tragedy, from the Bacchae, the Oresteia, Electra, etc., are digested food within the work, biologically essential elements. This was the first reason for a fundamental intertextual analysis and a contemporary translation of Blood Wedding.
A second reason is the undervalued metrical parts, which make up more than one third of the work and constitute its quintessence. This translation places particular emphasis on these wonderful poems.
