It is very bad through a fairy tale to talk to children about magic, dark magic, evil, etc... there are so many fairy tales that can talk about so many beautiful things.     10 years old and read 1 & 2 in a day and a half!! She kept talking to us about the adventures she read. My daughter is very excited! My only objection is that this book (like children's series etc.) talks about magic, something I don't consider right or Christian. I will read it too and depending on that, either we will get the next ones or we will find another book by the same author.
