This book is the result of the meeting between a philosopher, St. Rozanis, and a composer, Th. Sliomis, first through Musika, a magazine of thought and theory about music (1996-2006), and then through a spiritual dialogue that continues to this day.
In these texts, the authors, covering a wide range of topics—from the concept of the national in Greek music and the great heretical composers to the relationship of music with other arts, from romanticism and the quest for utopia to the contemporary mutations of artistic forms and the significance of creation—attempt to address the crucial cultural issues of our time through inquiries and positions: about the creative subject and its possibility of existence, about music and the arts in relation to the Spectacle and the Image, about the necessity of transcending walls and confinement in order to see what is behind it, what lies beyond it.
In the series Music of the 20th Century, the following titles are released:
- René Leibowitz, Schönberg: The Great Turn of Contemporary Music
- Th. Sliomis, Art Against Nazism: The Musical Movement of Theresienstadt, 1941-1945
