The texts of this collective volume highlight and analyze the structural problems that the Greek state is called to address in order to implement the European educational policy.
They also reflect the transition from older (national) normative behavior patterns and/or values to newer ones that appear to align with the European perspective.
The volume is divided into two distinct parts, which are closely interdependent. The first part includes five texts that theoretically and empirically analyze issues related to the organization and management of school units and the implications of various policies within the broader socio-economic context in which education is situated.
The second part primarily emphasizes the role of the principal and its significance for the functioning of the 'effective' school, as it is perceived at any given time.
