Bilbo Baggins is a good-natured middle-aged hobbit who enjoys, without guilt, the small pleasures of comfortable daily life: he smokes his pipe while sitting in front of the fire and enjoys his nice meal.
However, his tranquility is suddenly interrupted when one day the wizard Gandalf and a group of dwarves appear at his doorstep, doing everything they can to lure him into an adventure with unimaginable consequences for all. Their plan is to seize the treasure guarded by the dragon Smaug (the Defiler), with whom Thorin Oakenshield, a member of the dwarf company and heir to the Kingdom of Dwarves, has unresolved accounts from the past.
Bilbo Baggins has no desire to leave his idyllic village of the Shire. However, regarding his lineage, Bilbo is half Tuck, a race of dreamers who thirst for heroic deeds. Thus, the prospect of the journey awakens his hidden self and drives him to agree and partake in an adventure that surpasses all imagination.
The prelude to the monumental trilogy "The Lord of the Rings" is a unique fantasy adventure and at the same time an unforgettable heroic tale that has captivated and enchanted young and old for many decades.
