Description

Description

TINA is dead. If we had to choose just one slogan, this could be considered the most representative of the developments in the past decade, the first decade of the 21st century. TINA is dead, thankfully.

TINA is a very common diminutive of female names. However, it is also an acronym that comes from `There is no alternative`, a well-known phrase by Margaret Thatcher. `There is no alternative`, proclaimed the `Iron Lady` of neoliberalism, after the resounding collapse of existing socialism during the period 1989-91.

Close behind, Anthony Giddens, also known as the `guru` of Tony Blair and New Labour, declared in 1998 that `no one has any alternative anymore, except for capitalism`. Woe unto us if these statements were to be confirmed. If humanity had no other choice but the modern barbarism we have been experiencing, especially in recent years.
