Christos Christovasilis (1862-1937) is one of the most significant literary figures and intellectuals of Epirus. He distinguished himself mainly in the genre of short stories, where he stood out for the naturalness of the prose, the liveliness of the language, the humor, and the creative utilization of folk traditions. A passionate patriot, he engaged in various ways in the struggle for the liberation of the enslaved regions of Hellenism. A well-traveled individual, thanks mainly to his profession as a journalist, he never lost his Hellenocentric perspective and above all, his love for the cultural heritage of Epirus. In this volume, four of his most important short story collections are gathered, accompanied by an enlightening introduction, a rich interpretive vocabulary, and an excellent afterword by the great teacher Christos Tsolakis on the education of Greek children from antiquity to the years of Christovasilis.
