Few dates in modern Greek history mark such a clear and profound turning point as 1974. The "Greece of the Metapolitefsi" transformed at a very rapid pace. It experienced significant social and cultural changes, became more closely connected to the outside world, faced unprecedented challenges, lost old certainties, sought new constants, and attempted to redefine its identity.

The book examines how Greek prose interacted with this new reality, how it perceived the changes in Greek society, how it renegotiated the historical past, what questions it raised about the existential state and the consciousness of modern individuals (especially modern Greeks), what new possibilities it discovered, and how it utilized them.
