Description

The Governor of Greece, Ioannis A. Kapodistrias, was an emblematic figure in modern Greek history.

Although one hundred and ninety years have passed since his assassination, he continues to occupy research and historiography. Criticism of his work often focuses on the authoritarian way in which he exercised power.

However, everyone admits his fundamental role in the construction of the Greek state. The book sheds light on a series of topics surrounding his actions, particularly his foreign policy, with many new elements regarding his efforts to establish friendly relations with the neighboring Ottoman Empire.

Which he considered "essential for the pacification of the East" but also a necessary condition for the progress of the newly established Greek state.
