This book is the first and only study of its kind on homosexuality in our country to date. It draws material from two equally important sources: On one hand, it is based on hundreds of personal testimonies from gay men and women, which serve as a valuable repository of knowledge about how homosexuality is experienced in Greece, and which the author has gathered through his work as a psychotherapist and relationship counselor since 2006. This includes the author's own experiences as a gay man, providing an additional experiential aspect.
Furthermore, it is supported by a wealth of scientific research and studies collected since the 1970s, which have debunked many anti-scientific theories, myths, and unfounded beliefs about homosexuality. The topics it addresses, always with language accessible to every reader, include, among others, homophobia, whether we are born gay or become gay, whether sexual orientation can change, coming out, femininity and masculinity, gay sex, and the relationships of Greek gay men with their parents, aiming to be a source of inspiration both for gay men and women processing the traumas inflicted by society, as well as for parents who know or suspect that their child is gay and want to understand what they are facing.
It is also aimed at mental health professionals who need specialized information about their gay clients, so they can support them more comprehensively.
