This volume includes two earlier books with publications on education and language: the Greek Education (1982) and the Kyriakodromio (1985). The texts are reproduced faithfully with minimal improvements in expression, corrected typographical oversights and punctuation, historically consistent spelling, and a limited number of explanatory phrases.

Upon rereading them, I realized that they are not merely testimonies of a distant past in their third and second respective editions. Their relevance for today’s reader is twofold: On one hand, it tracks the educational events of the first ten decisive years of the Post-Dictatorship period in a slow backward glance. On the other hand, it brings sharply before the eyes the manner, categories, and perspective with which I approached these structural issues of our social and political life.
