The "Magna Moralia" (MM) is one of the three major compositions of ethical teaching that antiquity has handed down to us as creations of Aristotle. The other two treatises bearing the name of the Stagirite philosopher are the "Eudemian Ethics" (EE) and the "Nicomachean Ethics" (NE). In the "Magna Moralia" (as in the other two treatises), an ethical anthropology is proposed, free from any transcendental element both in its source and foundation as well as in its structure and perspective. It is an inherently political ethics, unwaveringly oriented towards a supreme good, the happiness of man as a free subject living within the framework of a specific type of society: the ancient Greek city-state.
