Athens. Hydra. June 2020. A battling journalist is found dead in the pool of a penthouse in Kolonaki, in the apartment of her ex-husband, a distinguished painter who remains missing. She has a tattoo of a giant seahorse on her chest.
The media and public opinion are in turmoil, with the possible scenarios of the murder remaining open until the end. The tangled threads of this case, unfolding between Hydra and Athens, involve Inspector Haris Kokkino and his team in a case that confronts them with issues of domestic violence, art circles, the limits of creation, and the closed mouths of a small community that could be on an island or in the heart of a metropolis.
This book is the second part of the "Trilogy of the Abyss," a malleable universe, an abyss that swallows everything except our stories, true within their lies and false within their truths, believing we have understood how the game is played and discovering each time that it wasn't just that, that in the lair of the seahorse, none of us is innocent.
This would be a good premise for a crime novel, if I hadn't received an email from the victim the night before their murder and if I didn't know that seahorses swim against the current until their hearts break.
